Sawyer Artisan MXS TOPO Oar Shaft is built for whitewater boaters who want the strength, flex, and durability of Sawyer's MX composite oar system with distinctive topographical artwork. Its fiberglass construction delivers a balanced combination of strength, responsive flex, and manageable weight for rafting, drift boats, and other demanding river applications.
Built around a longitudinal fiberglass shaft with X-Weave fiberglass reinforcement, the MXS TOPO Oar Shaft is designed to handle repeated whitewater use while maintaining the flex and feel rowers expect from Sawyer composite oars. The TOPO Art Wrap, created in partnership with Kind Designs of Colorado, adds detailed topographical artwork to the shaft without changing the customizable MX blade system.
Oar blades are sold separately. The MXS TOPO Oar Shaft accepts Sawyer Oar Blades with a 1 5/8" Tite-Set mount, allowing you to choose the blade that best matches your boat, rowing style, and water conditions.
Oar Shaft Length
Composite oar shaft lengths are sized according to the fully assembled overall oar length with a standard 30" Sawyer oar blade and handle attached. If you want a 9' finished oar, select the 9' composite shaft option. Available lengths range from 7'6" to 12' overall.

Rope Wrap & Rubber Stop
A rope wrap with a rubber stop protects the shaft at the oarlock contact point while improving balance and control. The stop prevents the oar from slipping through the oarlock when released, keeping your oar secure and within reach. This setup reduces wear and maintains consistent performance over time.
Tite-Set Blade Lock System
